So christmas eve and the first day of the Festive 500 challenge is over. The ride was pretty worthless. Pouring rain and the worst winds of the year. I had trouble getting forward sometimes even with my cross chainrings running 36×28. If you didn’t pedal downhill you came to a complete stop and i’m not even kidding. A challenge is a challenge though and at least i got 70km in the book and a warm shower when i got back home.
Big contrast against last winter when it was -5 degrees and a lot of snow and icy roads. I think i almost prefer the snow over the rain and wind.
Last winter was pretty different from today
After about thirty minutes I started getting really cold and I didn’t want to stop to take any pictures so the only one from today is the one at the top. Down that stretch of road i struggled to keep 20km/h and the squalls threw me around like a glove, going sideways several meters. All in all, one of the worst rides of the year and the forecast for the next week is just more of the same. Around 0-5 degrees and stormy.
