Remember when i said that yesterdays ride was the worst ride of the year, well that didn’t last long. Today was an absolute suckfest. A little less windy but there’s nothing positive to say about the rain. The ride started with heavy rain and only got worse as I went on. I had planned on doing around a 100km ride to get a bit of a buffer but i decided to turn around when i couldn’t feel my hands anymore. And that was after I had switched to the dry extra pair of gloves.
Only two things i could think of was
If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Fair-weather riding is a luxury reserved for Sunday afternoons and wide boulevards. Those who ride in foul weather – be it cold, wet, or inordinately hot – are members of a special club of riders who, on the morning of a big ride, pull back the curtain to check the weather and, upon seeing rain falling from the skies, allow a wry smile to spread across their face. This is a rider who loves the work.
and Rule #5
Since my trusty iPhone isn’t waterproof there’s no pictures from this ride. I had plans on taking at least a few shots from bus stops or other places with a roof but I was afraid that if I stopped I would never the my body temp up again so i just went on.
Weather forecast for tomorrow actually looks decent. So hopefully this ride will be long forgotten by then.
