Hold the presses! The weather actually was decent today! To bad i had limited time otherwise the ride would be a bit longer. I had promised to take my daughter to the swimming pool today at noon so I set the alarm for 06:00. Got up at around 06:30 and got some breakfast, got dressed and went out. Pitch black! That’s living in Sweden during the winter for you.
If it was the weather stopping me from doing miracles the two days before it was bad form and bad legs that stopped me today. I had to struggle right out of the starting blocks and it never really got better. Luckily the weather really made up for it and i had a decent 100km ride. Temp was a bit weird as it actually got colder the further in to the day I got. Starting out at around 6 degrees and when I got home at around 12 my Garmin said it was around 2-3. Felt it in my toes at the end but much much better than cold rain.
Todays route is one of my most ridden ones. I know every bump in the road and can ride it pretty much blindfolded. The difference was that I have never done the whole route in the winter before, usually when you ride with studded tyres you never have to go that extra distance to get a proper training ride in.
The ride home was a bit of a struggle keeping the toes warm. Only had my winter shoes on and no shoe covers. Usually is enough but not today. Had to make a few stops to walk around to get rid of the numbness but all in all a good winter ride.
Looking at the weather forecast for tomorrow it looks like it was a one hit wonder and it’s back to the rain again.
